What is the plot of Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!?

The film begins with a wedding between Rajesh (Mohnish Bahl), a successful businessman, and Pooja (Renuka Shahane), a sweet-natured girl from a middle-class family. Rajesh's younger brother Prem (Salman Khan) is a carefree college student who loves music and pranks. Pooja's younger sister Nisha (Madhuri Dixit) is a bubbly college student who loves dancing and mischief. Prem and Nisha meet at the wedding and instantly feel attracted to each other. They engage in playful banter and tease each other throughout the wedding ceremonies.

After the wedding, Rajesh and Pooja move to their new home, while Prem and Nisha continue to stay in touch through letters and phone calls. They also visit each other's families on various occasions, such as Diwali, Karva Chauth, and Teej. During these visits, they grow closer to each other and fall in love. However, they do not express their feelings openly, as they respect their elders and their traditions.

One day, Pooja becomes pregnant and gives birth to a baby boy. She invites Nisha to stay with her for a few days to help her with the baby. Meanwhile, Prem also comes to visit his brother and sister-in-law. He secretly plans to propose to Nisha during this visit. However, tragedy strikes when Pooja slips from the stairs and dies. Rajesh is devastated by his wife's death, while Prem and Nisha are heartbroken by their sister-in-law's death. They also realize that their love story has come to an end, as they have to sacrifice their happiness for the sake of the baby and the family.

The elders of the family decide that Rajesh should marry Nisha, as she is the only one who can take care of the baby and the household. Nisha agrees to the marriage out of respect and duty, while Prem supports the decision out of love and loyalty. They both hide their true feelings and pretend to be happy for each other. They also decide to never reveal their past relationship to anyone.

On the day of the wedding, Nisha wears Pooja's bridal dress and jewelry, as per her wish. Prem also gives Nisha a necklace that he had bought for her as a gift. He tells her that he will always love her and wish her well. However, just before the wedding ceremony, Tuffy, the family dog, who knows about Prem and Nisha's love, brings a letter that Prem had written for Nisha earlier. The letter reveals Prem's feelings and proposal for Nisha. Rajesh reads the letter and realizes that Prem and Nisha love each other. He decides to cancel the wedding and reunite them. He tells Nisha to go to Prem and live happily with him. He also tells Prem that he is not his brother, but his friend, and he wants him to be happy. He assures them that he will take care of the baby and himself.

Prem and Nisha are overwhelmed by Rajesh's gesture and thank him for his generosity. They also ask for his blessings and forgiveness. Rajesh blesses them and hugs them. The film ends with Prem and Nisha getting married with the approval of their families and friends.
